Head of Compensation – Miami, FL

21. March 2025

Global.  Driven.  Innovative.  Adaptive.   These qualities describe the passionate people at Laureate Education, Inc. (NASDAQ: LAUR). These talented professionals consistently deliver exceptional results through their dedication and expertise, creating an outstanding environment for a skilled Head of Compensation.

The Head of Compensation will lead and enhance Laureate’s compensation philosophy, strategy, and programs to drive business performance and strengthen employee engagement.  While supporting a compact U.S. corporate team, the role’s impact reaches significantly further, shaping experiences for over 30,000 employees across five higher learning institutions in Mexico and Peru.

Reporting directly to the Chief People Officer, this highly visible role collaborates with HR, Finance, Legal, and business leaders in Mexico and Peru, while also partnering with the CEO and CPO to design and administer executive compensation programs, including annual and long-term incentive plans. The position serves as a subject matter expert on compensation, promoting knowledge-sharing practices across the organization while directing the annual compensation planning cycle, including salary structures, merit increases, bonus programs, and equity awards.

This role requires an analytical leader with exceptional financial acumen and fluency, a strong communicator capable of engaging directly with the Executive Leadership Team, Board of Directors, and Compensation Committee. The Head of Compensation must be confident in attending Board meetings, providing clear, data-driven insights with meticulous accuracy and attention to detail, and addressing complex financial and compensation-related questions.

At least 10 years of progressive compensation experience is essential, with significant expertise in managing executive compensation within public companies. This includes overseeing annual proxy statements for SEC filings, developing CD&A disclosures, ensuring compliance with SEC, NASDAQ, and other regulatory requirements, and collaborating with Board Compensation Committees.

The role is based in Miami, with a strong preference for candidates in South Florida, though relocation support is available.

Spanish fluency is a plus but not required, and a background in higher education is also not necessary. However, alignment with Laureate’s mission to expand access to education is important.

The Head of Compensation extends beyond compensation leadership to influence broader people and culture priorities. This is a high-impact opportunity with strong executive exposure and room for career growth within a company that values internal promotion and professional development. Internal talent is a valuable Laureate resource, where career development is not linear.
