Build your career with one of the Bay Area’s most prominent construction companies in a role that provides the opportunity to leverage your total rewards expertise while supporting critical business operations.  We are proud to partner with our client, XL Construction, in their pursuit of an experienced Total Rewards & People Operations Senior Specialist to join them in an execution-focused role that requires immediate impact and hands-on expertise.  This position falls under the oversight of the Director, Talent Acquisition and represents a crucial hiring need to support its upcoming compensation cycle.  The ideal candidate will bring senior-level specialist experience from smaller to midsize companies where compensation and benefits functions were combined and required manual processes.

The role centers on two primary areas of responsibility.  In compensation, the new leader will conduct market matching and benchmarking activities, perform data analysis and trend reporting, and create executive-friendly data presentations.  Strong Excel proficiency is essential, particularly for tracking survey matches, and experience with Radford survey data is required, while familiarity with Construction Employers’ Association and FMI Compensation & Benefits Surveys is advantageous.  On the benefits side, the new specialist will handle transactional and manual processing tasks including reconciling deductions, coordinating with vendors and accounting teams, managing routing issues, and ensuring accurate deductions and disbursements.

Additional responsibilities include assisting with job descriptions for newly created roles and potentially supporting strategic compensation initiatives alongside the Vice President, People.

This opportunity is ideal for a hands-on total rewards professional who can deliver immediate results and who thrives in environments where they can make a direct, measurable impact on compensation and benefits operations.  While growth into a more strategic total rewards role is possible long-term, the immediate focus is on operational execution.  We will prioritize candidates with backgrounds in construction, manufacturing, or similar industries.

The position operates in a hybrid work environment requiring at least three days per week in XL Construction’s Milpitas office, with the Oakland location as an alternative if more convenient.
